Stuff I Recommend:
A Few of My Favorite Things
Best Radio Show
Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio show, http://www.themetimeradio.com/ .
Bob DJs his favorite music, tells stories and bad jokes, and gives advice about how to walk gracefully in high heels. Each show has a different theme. This is what radio should be. It's great at getting me through long plane flights.
Best Home Remedy for Heartburn / Acid Reflux / GERD
The Medslant wedge pillow, http://www.medslant.com/ , elevates your torso to keep acid from burning the lining of your esophagus while you sleep.
Best Exercise I Can Actually Stick With
Fast walking on the treadmill while watching TV. I hate everything about gyms, and walking outdoors doesn’t get my heart rate high enough. Half an hour of fast treadmill walking does the trick, but it can be pretty boring. Hence, the TV. While I normally prefer comedies, they don’t work well for working out. Tense dramas and action/adventure movies are best for pumping up the adrenaline.
Best Toothpaste for People Who Get Canker Sores
Any toothpaste that contains SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), as almost all of them do, irritates my mouth and gives me canker sores. Squigle toothpaste, http://www.homesteadmarket.com , doesn’t.
Best Back Pain Video
“Say Goodbye to Back Pain” by Hans Kraus, http://www.collagevideo.com/workout-video/say-goodbye-to-back-pain-7297 . This is the back pain regimen used by John F. Kennedy. It seems a little hokey and old-fashioned, but it’s gentle and relaxing, and it works wonders.
Good Way to Learn Meditation
It can be difficult to learn meditation on your own. Try one of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction classes taught in many hospitals and medical centers.
